Hawaiian architect disciples the leader of a nation!
Francis Oda is CEO of the Group 70 Architectural firm in Honolulu and is one of the leading architects in all of Hawaii.
Last year, Francis went to Tahiti in French Polynesia representing one of four architectural firms asked to participate in a competition to redesign a portion of the waterfront of Papeete, the capitol of Tahiti. While out for his daily swim during his stay in Tahiti, the Lord gave him a new and unique design for the project, in intricate detail. He quickly swam to shore, drew out the basic idea on the sand with his finger and had his assistant quickly snap a photo.
Francis showed the Tahitian President, Gaston Flosse, the new plans developed from the sand drawing. When asked, "Where did you get this idea?" Francis replied, "Well, I asked God, and He gave it to me." The President was very impressed and intrigued as to how Francis conducted business in partnership with God. (After all, if God can design buildings, He likely knows something about governing nations.) After serveral months, the President called Francis in Hawaii and was led to the Lord over the phone. On a subsequent trip, he baptized the President, led his wife to the Lord and baptized her, as well as the local architect with whom he will be building the project! "This," Francis stated later, "is the power of the marketplace!"
