Blessed are those who mourn
When Sandra and I first moved up here to the Bay Area 12 years ago we didn’t have any family local and didn’t know anyone outside of the Harvest people. One of the first people we connected with was Nancy Harden, a spirit filled intercessor and matriarch in Oakland. Immediately the Lord kit our hearts together and she became like a spiritual mother to me. I called her my African American mother.
A few years ago when she suddenly lost her husband, I learn so much by observing the way she walked through the grieving process with so much godly wisdom. When friends wanted to comfort her prematurely, she told them, “No, I don’t need that now, let me mourn.”
When Jesus taught “blessed are those who mourn” he put mourning as a key step in the process of repentance, not only for those who have experienced the lose of a love one or the pain of a divorce, but for everyone who wishes to be cleaned of sin and enter into the kingdom of heaven.
I first shared this message at Randal Road Christian Fellowship in Bermuda, earlier this year after the congregation had gone through a very traumatic season when the pastor lost his wife to a prolonged battle against cancer. They were very blessed and moved by the message and so I am sharing it with you all also.
May this message minister to your spirit and open up Jesus’ teaching in the sermon on the mount to you in a fresh new light.

Blessings,
PS. We’d love to hear your testimony or know how we can pray for you, post a note below, or send us an email at
