I just got this wonderful email from Dick Renard, God’s man in Salinas. I thought it would encourage you immensely. God does answer prayer and He hasn’t forgotten about Salinas, the “garden” of California! Read my post titled Grapes of Hope for more of the story of transformation in Salinas.
Greetings of Peace to You, Friends of Salinas!
On February 5th, we began to pray for God to bring the right kind of rain to our area. We are asking for the restoration and increase for our agricultural industry. Because this is not about us, we prayed in the Spirit of Matthew 6:6:
But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees {what is done} in secret will reward you.
And, it is in that Spirit that we give this report, to share with our Family what our Dad has done!
As we prayed, we asked Jeff Taylor what kind of rain the land needed. He said staggered rain, say 3 days on, with about an inch of rain, followed by 3 days of no rain to let the land soak in the water, then dry, so the farmers to plant the spring and summer crops. This rain “sequencing” needs to go on into March. We prayed against mud slides, and their effect on our communities, as much of the mountainous areas of the southwestern part of county was burned in last year’s wildfires. We asked God to protect our land. While we gave our requests to God, we still wanted His rainfall upon us.
Read the article in the Salinas Californian that appeared yesterday (Wednesday, Feb. 18). It highlights why we are praising God!
