Swap meet exchanges problems for prayer
Dick Hochreiter of Banning, California, USA, has been operating as a marketplace minister since 1985. He has seen countless miracles around the world as he and others have prayed for thousands of people. The next two testimonies are from Dick.
When Pure Rock Church in southern California began to look for a location to have an Easter sunrise service, the best place was the local swap meet. However, they couldn't have church there without having a swap meet because the lease agreement specified that the only way to use the property was for such meets. They saw this as an opportunity to take church to the marketplace instead of having to bring those in the marketplace into the church.
Consequently, on Easter Sunday a stage was set up and the sunrise service began as 250 unbelievers listened while setting up their stands. When the service was over, a very excited swap meet owner served coffee and donuts to everybody. Church members decided to bless every stand and invited the owner to come along - and he did!
People were so receptive that many received the Lord. By the time the next service started, there were about 1,000 people in the area. We prayed for so many people and the church people had so much fun that they're all hooked. The owner of the place told me, "I don't know why we don't do this every Sunday." It seems that sometimes unbelievers get it faster than believers!
